TOYOTA RAV4 2013 – features
Longer (* +205 mm), wider (+30 mm) and lower (-25 mm) than its predecessor, Toyota’s compact and versatile SUV fourth generation is characterized by new silhouette that emphasizes versatility, roominess and improved driving dynamics. The all-new exterior is a combination of sophisticated and elegant elements of Toyota’s new design language and muscular image that is expected of vehicles with four-wheel drive.New face of Toyota’s combination of original design accented front grille and headlights and LED daytime running lights “piercing look. “Enhanced” design is characterized by a large trapezoidal lower grille, integrated into the front bumper, and a smaller upper grille, which extends between the new headlights. In profile, the new RAV4 inherits space, high side panels and distinctive silhouette that are the hallmark of the previous generation of Toyota’s compact SUV. At the rear, the cabin is strongly curved inward, creating a contrast with the wide bottom of the body. The result is a stable and muscular look of the vehicle.
Adorned with integrated roof spoiler, a new rear doors now open upwards, and the spare wheel is left to complete the cleaner and streamlined design of the new RAV-4.The new RAV4 will be available in nine exterior colors, including three new ones: gray-blue metallic, dark green and black-metallic.
Although the retention of compact external dimensions were essential for agility, the length of the new RAV4 from 4.57 we wheelbase of 2660 mm guarantee much larger interior space. Distance between front and rear seat (970 mm) is now the largest in its class, and a new slimmer design seat back creates more space. The rear seats are split and fold in the ratio of 60:40 and have better lateral support. Size of cargo space is increased, and now the trunk volume is 547 liters. Storage under the trunk floor is also increased by 49 liters from 51 to 100 liters. The engine range for the European market consists of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine power 151 hp, the new 2.0-liter diesel engine power of 124 hp and 2.2-liter D-4D diesel engine with 150 horsepower. At Toyota said that every engine in this new fleet comes lower CO2 emissions, with an average reduction of 12% for the entire range. Version of the 2.0 liter diesel engine driving the front wheels is equipped with Toyota’s Stop & Start technology that reduces CO2 emissions to just 127 g / km.
In addition to the six-speed manual, the offer will be a six-speed automatic transmission and CVT transmissions. Previous generation RAV4 has built an enviable reputation for comfort, ease of driving, agility and the ability to conquer the most demanding roads. The new RAV4 is based on these core values, the reconstructed front and rear suspension, improved electric power steering system, a new integrated dynamic operating system and all-new Sport driving mode.
Integrated dynamic drive system is a sophisticated, interactive management system which coordinates the work of the new dynamic torque control 4-wheel drive, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Electric Power Steering (EPS) to increase the performance, handling and safety of the compact SUV ‘s. New Dynamic Torque Control 4-wheel drive through the electromagnetic clutch, mounted at the front of the rear differential, constantly monitors and controls the torque between the front and rear wheels. The distribution of torque between the front and rear wheels can vary from 100:0 to 50:50, while in normal driving conditions, automatically selects the front-wheel drive (100:0), to reduce fuel consumption.Dynamic Torque Control 4-wheel drive uses the information from different sensors (speed, turn the steering wheel, pressing the gas level drift) to drive automatically directed to the rear wheels, if necessary. In normal mode, when not activated locking differential or Sport mode, torque is transferred to the rear wheels not only when a drift is detected (as was the case of a third-generation RAV4), but when the system detects understeer when cornering . The result is greater agility and performance, both on the road and off. When you choose a brand new Sport mode (standard on AWD models), torque is directed to the rear wheels as soon as you turn the steering wheel. New Dynamic Torque Control 4-wheel drive, depending on the position of the steering wheel, will automatically adjust the force distribution between the front / rear wheels in the ratio of 90:10, in order to reduce the load on the front tires.
Besides being activated by “dynamic” allocation of torque, the new Sport mode also modifies the power steering, throttle and transmission; reducing power steering, increasing throttle response and allowing the engine to spin at higher rpms, to dynamic, sporty driving experience. For off-road, the system has a key lock 4-wheel drive. This allows drivers to fix the torque distribution to 50:50, at speeds up to 40 km / h.
The new RAV4 has a very high standard of active and passive safety features to protect passengers and pedestrians from collisions, which have evolved over three generations of the vehicle. With a new, highly rigid body, designed to give passengers and pedestrians optimal impact protection, the new RAV4 is planning to get 5 stars on a rigorous Euro NCAP crash test for 2013th . Toyota’s new SUV is equipped with a new seat design that prevents whiplash with 7 airbags, including a knee airbag for the driver and front-side airbags with two chambers. The new RAV4 also be equipped with three new technologies: automatic high beam, warning of a lane and monitor blind spots, which further increases security and makes it easier to ride. Automatic High Beam system has a camera that monitors the road ahead and automatically switches between long and short lamps, when on the eve of an oncoming vehicle. The system alerts the lane using the camera built into the top of the windshield in order to determine if the vehicle unintentionally leaves its lane. The system then alerts the driver with audible signal and a flashing icon on the multi-information display. Monitor blind spots notifies the driver if a vehicle in an adjacent lane in the blind spot, so it turns the cursor into the outside rearview mirror. The system uses a radar sensor mounted on either side of the rear of the RAV4, which monitors the blind spots behind the driver. If you turn on turn signal, the indicator flashes to alert the driver.
