When this four-door luxury sedan was launched in 2009, it was something that we never seen before from this German manufacturer. The company surely had big expectations from this fastback, but no one expected the number of units sold will be several times higher than it was predicted. Panamera quickly became one of the most important models of the company, so further development of this vehicle became one the primary goals for Porsche. It is already known that 2016 Porsche Panamera will come as new, second-generation model and the expectations are big. Company promises improvements in all aspects, so beside new look, we will see improved engines, many new technologies and also a new platform.
2016 Porsche Panamera redesign
The 2016 Porsche Panamera will be based on VW MSB platform, which means that wheelbase will be slightly longer. New model will be also significantly lighter, although it will keep similar dimensions, mainly because of use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and steel. This promises much better handling and also improved fuel economy. Although 2016 Panamera has a pretty much unique look, it shares many similarities with its British cousin Bentley Continental. Beside similar design language, layout will be same. Just like it was case with previous-generation models, both cars will have engine mounted in front, while the power will be delivered either to rear or all wheels.
2016 Porsche Panamera engine
The current model has very wide offer of engines and it is expected that 2016 Porsche Panamera will keep in that way. It is expected that the line-up of engines will remain pretty much the same but with improvements both in power and fuel economy. The 2016 Panamera will be available in petrol, diesel and hybrid variants in range from 3.0 liter V6 to 4.8 liter V8 engine. It is still unknown will new model keep the same transmissions or there will be some changes. Current model uses 6-speed manual, 7-speed dual-clutch and 8-speed Aisin Tiptronic S transmissions.
2016 Porsche Panamera release date and price
The 2016 Porsche Panamera will hit the showrooms next year and it is expected that the price will remain in the same range, which means around 60.000 dollars for base model.
