The Clubman was originally launched in 2007 as 2008 year model. It is a station wagon variant of Mini Hatch model, which came in 2006 as second-generation model. After almost nine years of production, we are finally going to see a second generation of this 4-door station wagon. New model will come as 2016 Mini Clubman and it will feature plenty of novelties. New model will come both with visual and technical improvements. The testing model has been spotted on the roads and we expect launch in upcoming months.
2016 Mini Clubman specs
The 2016 Mini Clubman will come completely redesigned. It will be heavily based on the concept that was presented at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Although test model still has a camouflage, some of the details are already known. When it is about exterior look, new model will feature its signature split tailgate but, on the other side, it will come with several design tweaks which will make it more aggressive and more attractive than original model. The 2016 Clubman will come bigger than its predecessor. It will ride on the stretched version of the UKL platform, which will make it almost big as BMW 3 Series. New model will also come with plenty of new safety features such as, for example, head-up display, collision and pedestrian warning systems, a parking assistant and speed limit information system.
2016 Mini Clubman engine
When it is about engines, 2016 Mini Clubman will come with same novelties that are already seen on new Mini Cooper. The base unit will be 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which has an output of 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Optional engine will be a 2.0 liter four-cylinder unit, which will be good for 189 hp and 206 lb-ft of max torque. Although it isn’t confirmed yet, a hi-performance version called John Cooper Works is also expected. This model should have around 228 horses and 236 lb-ft of max torque.
2016 Mini Clubman release date
The 2016 Mini Clubman will come this fall. The exact date is still unknown, but there are some predictions that it should be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
