2016 Lexus RX

RX is a mid-size luxury crossover, produced by Toyota’s luxury division Lexus. It was originally launched in 1998 and so far, we have seen three generations. The fourth-generation model is on the way and it is expected to come as 2016 Lexus RX. This car is the most popular mid-size luxury crossover in U.S. so there are high expectations from new-generation model.  The testing model has been spotted and according to the latest information, it is expected that next-generation model will be presented on the New York Auto Show in April. The 2016 Lexus RX will come with many improvements such as new look, interior, it will be larger but also lighter.

The 2016 Lexus RX will come with many changes. Visually, new model will have similar overall body lines but it will get plenty f new styling details. Basically, it will follow the same design language as smaller NX, which means much sportier appearance with more angular and aggressive lines, spindle grille similar to NX’s new-designed headlights etc. The new Lexus RX will be few inches longer than its predecessor but, on the other side, it will be much lighter thanks to the use of lightweight materials such as aluminum and HSS in it structure. Although it was rumored that new crossover will get third row of seats, 2016 RX will stay a five-seater. However it will get completely redesigned cabin which will be very stylish, luxurious and full of high-tech features.

It is expected that current engines will remain but updated and improved for 2016 Lexus RX. The base unit will be 3.5 liter V6 petrol engine with 275 hp, available both in FWD and AWD variants. Hybrid variant of this crossover will be also powered with the same gas-electric configuration, but also with some improvements both in terms of power and economy. Current CVT will also carry over. FWD variant will come as standard, while all-wheel-drive will be optional.

Next-generation crossover is in final phase of development and it seems that it will be ready for New York Auto Show in April, when presentation is expected. It will hit the market later this year and it will come as 2016 Lexus RX.
