There is no special need for introduction of Ford Focus. This compact car originally came in U.S. in 1999 as 2000 year model, while in Europe it was launched one year earlier. So far we have seen three generations of this model, but Ford already works on next-generation model. However, this isn’t the most exciting news about this car. This June, it was officially confirmed that Ford Motor Company also develops a brand-new performance variant which will be called Ford Focus RS and which should come in 2016.
2016 Ford Focus RS redesign
The 2016 Ford Focus RS has been already spotted. First time it was in Nurburgring, Germany and shortly after that, test mule has been spotted in Green Hell with some new modifications. Although we’ve seen this mule, we can’t say too much about it, because it is still under heavy camouflage. However, it is clear that 2016 Ford Focus RS will follow the line of the current ST model, but plenty of unique details are expected. Some of them will be new, reshaped bumpers, roof spoiler, new-designed wheels and many other. Unlike ST, which has a a center-mounted, twin-pipe arrangement, 2016 Focus RS will come with separate tips placed toward the sides. One more important thing that we have noticed is that the testing model has front-wheel-drive, although there are plenty of speculations that new performance model will have AWD.
2016 Ford Focus RS engine
For now, there are no official details about 2016 Ford Focus ST engine, so we must rely on predictions. It is expected that this variant will be powered with new 2.3 liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine, same that can be found in new Mustang. It will probably be slightly boosted for 2016 Focus ST, so it will have an output around 350 horses.
2016 Ford Focus RS release date and price
For now, there is no information about possible release date of 2016 Ford Focus RS. However, it is expected that new performance model will come somewhere in the first half of 2016. Price is expected to be around 45.000 dollars.
