Audi A3 is a compact executive car which was originally released in 1996. It was Audi’s return to the production of smaller car after 18 years (last small car made was Audi 50 in 1978). So far, we have seen three generation of this model. Current third-generation model was launched in 2012 and we expect some big novelties already with 2016 Audi A3. According to company spokesman, company decided once again to offer this model as hatchback, after few years of break. That basically means that we will once again see TDI Sportback version in offer among other hatchbacks.
2016 Audi A3 specs
This model is based on MQB platform. The 2016 Audi A3 will be offered with four body styles. Beside sedan and convertible, it will be available as 3-door and 5-door hatchback too. Except this novelties, other characteristics will remain pretty much the same. There will be three trim levels in offer – Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. This car is equipped with plenty of hi-tech features like Audi’s MMI interface to control the optional navigation system, audio-entertainment and interior functions, Audi’s Drive Select, WiFI, smarthphone integration and many other. The 2016 Audi A3 will be also full of safety features.
There are rearview camera, blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, frontal collision warning and automatic braking, front and rear parking sensors and an automated parking system. When it is about engines, Audi offers wide range of units. The 2016 Audi A3 will be offered in petrol, diesel and hybrid variants. The most attractive version will be version with 2.0 TDI engine, which is considered as Audi’s best offer for this model. This engine outputs around 150 horses and it has fantastic 236 lb-ft of max torque. Beside great performances, this model will be characterized by excellent fuel economy. Previous TDI model was rated at 34 mph, while 2016 A3 is expected to reach 40 mpg.
2016 Audi A3 release date and price
The 2016 Audi A3 is expected to come in summer of 2015. Although there is no official information, we expect that the price will be same as for the current model, while the base hatchback variant is expected to cost slightly higher.
