For upcoming 2015 Nissan Altima will have new look, features, and probably engine options. This generation of Altima was launched with 2013 year model, and now slight modifications are expected, because 2015 year model is somewhere between two generations in cycle freshening. This mid-size sedan Altima will suffer many design changes, while hybrid variant is possibility. Also, updated NissanConnect infotainment system is expected. Japanese carmaker will put a lot of efforts into this vehicle, since it has excellent market records.
2015 Nissan Altima engine and fuel economy
Japanese company will launch 2015 Altima with 2.5-l 4-cylinder engine with 182 hp. However, this won’t be only option because Nissan has prepared 270 hp rated 3.5-l V6 powertrain. For possible hybrid model, it is expected to be packed with same combination as Pathfinder, supercharged 2.5-liter gasoline engine along with a 15kW electric motor. This mix is good for 250 hp. The CVT transmission called “Xtronic” will be mated to the engines. We do not expect difference in fuel economy from current version. City-highway consumption is 27/38 mpg, while combined it is 25 mpg for base option and 22-31-25 mpg for 3.5-l V6 engine.
2015 Nissan Altima trim levels
The 2015 Nissan Altima trim levels should be named same as for current model. So, we could have 2.5 and 3.5 prefixes for 4-cylinder and V6 engines. These two base levels will come with sublevels S, SV and SL. The 2.5 S model will come with basic equipment – power driver seat and keyless entry, while 3.5 S will add steering-wheel paddle shifters, rearview camera and NissanConnect Apps infotainment.
The SV sublevels will be more equipped, with 2.5 offers dual-zone automatic climate control, and 3.5 gives power sunroof and NissanConnect Apps with support for hands-free text messaging. The 2015 Nissan Altima SL models are top of the class with leather upholstery, heated front seats and Bose-brand audio system.
2015 Nissan Altima price and competition
When it shows at dealerships, 2015 Nissan Altima starting price will be around $22.000. Depending on trim levels, it will cost more, so 2.5 SV will be between $25.000-26.000 and highest price will have 3.5 SL model, around $33.000. The 2015 Nissan Altima will face major competition in Ford Fusion, Honda Accord and Hyundai Sonata.
