The third generation of Mazda’s popular supermini Mazda 2 has proven to be very successful in the world, with positive comments, selling high and even the declaration of the World Car of the Year 2008. However, the current generation Mazda 2 is currently in its seventh year, and slowly dried up against competitors such as the Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Polo, Renault Clio and Honda Fit / Jazz.
At this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Japanese car manufacturer has unveiled Hazumi concept, announcing that the next Mazda 2 could appear on sale in early 2015. Hazumi brings less weight, more space and improved mechanics and for some announcements specify the characteristics of the concept will be seen on the production model of 2015 Mazda 2 when his debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.
2015 Mazda 2 design
From the design, though Hazumi provides a specific line of concept cars , production model 2015 Mazda 2 should be quite similar. The design team is led by the Japanese but also American and German designers from studies in these two countries played a major role. With a length of 4,070 mm, width of 1,730 mm and height of 1,450 mm, Hazumi is longer, wider and lower, compared with the current design of Mazda 2. The 2015 Mazda 2 is inspired by the larger models such as the Mazda 3, Mazda 6 and CX5, especially in the form of the front. Standard model of 2015 Mazda 2 should have new headlights, rims, mirrors and door handles. The same can be seen with the interior, which, although looks like a typical concept car, the design is almost identical to a future production model.
2015 Mazda 2 engine
Perhaps the most attention is drawn to the new 1.5L SKYACTIV engine with CO2 emissions will be below 90 g / km, which is by far the lowest in the class and power should amount to more than the current 100 hp. In some markets, Mazda 2 can be obtained with the line 1.3L petrol engines, 74-90 hp, as well as two diesel engines ( 1.4L and 1.6L 67 hp to 89 hp), but it is expected that they will be interchangeable with modern SKYACTIV engines.
Offer gearbox five-speed manual and four-speed automatic will also be refreshed and will get one more speed. Japanese giant expects 2015 Mazda 2 will be a big success, especially in the European market and will mention that in 2013 sold a solid 160,000 copies. Solid success is expected in North America, where this model has been overshadowed by the more popular Ford Fiesta, Chevrolet Sonic and the Nissan Versa, but Mazda is now have a reason to expect success.
