2015 BMW X6 redesign

The second-generation of BMW X6 spied in form-fitting swirly camouflage. As was in 2008, when the first X6 was launched, the new model will use X5 mechanicals to deliver significantly less practicality and considerably more style than that model. According the sources, one thing should be expected – that the X6’s shape to become “iconic, like a Porsche 911.”

The 2015 BMW X6 is some kind of reinterpretation of the original X6, with a taller hood and new headlights that blend into the kidney grilles like the new X5’s. Following the lead taken by its traditionally proportioned sibling, the interior will be much more sophisticated than that of today’s model.

The current X6 has been outsold in the U.S. this year by every single BMW model. BMW will need the next-gen model to maintain the status quo if the brand is to stave off competition from the Mercedes-Benz MLC and Audi Q8 mid-size crossover coupes scheduled to launch in the next year or two.

The next-generation of X6’s dimensions will remain essentially identical to last year’s model. Expected is that the weight will drop by 100 kg. Electrically assisted power steering will be implemented. All X6’s electronics architecture will be updated to accommodate the latest in BMW’s infotainment and telematics systems.

Like the new X5, the new X6 will also feature a longer wheelbase to benefit rear seat occupants, with total length measuring somewhere around 4850 to 4900mm.

2015 BMW X6 powertrain

2015 BMW X6 American buyers  will have a choice to make between two engines – turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six with 300 horsepower and 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 with 445 hp. Also, it is expected for the new X6 to offer all-wheel drive. However, it’s possible from the 2015 BMW X6 to offer rear-wheel drive. As it was for 2014 BMW X5 rear-drive became available as a low-cost, more efficient option. A diesel engine is possible, although that may not fit the image BMW has built for the X6 either.
